Solution
The Professional experience is a Native application with a complementary browser-based interface built with Toothio’s Design System and React code base. The dashboard-centric experience prioritizes shift scheduling and management, with a card-based layout for versatile calls-to-action and messaging, . This approach streamlined shift management, enhancing user adoption and increasing monthly active users.
To tackle friction with way-finding, user flows were optimized with intuitive design patterns. Global banners provide at-a-glance on-shift updates (e.g., next shift date, clock-in status), while detailed shift invites ensured the dental pro was prepared through, skill requirements, attire guidelines, and task previews.

The Crown Rewards feature was added and prominently featured throughout the experience, rewarding user engagement with “Crowns”. Crowns are redeemable for a range of items including gift cards, cash, and vacations, incentivizing user to stay on the platform. Pros earn Crowns through the act of accepting and working a shift, referrals, and monthly goal bonus’s. Your life time Crown earnings are set to status milestones which multiple Crown payouts.

Legacy Experience
As Toothio grew and entered new markets and added new features to the product roadmap the legacy experience began to break, it was faced with scalability issues and needed code refactoring. Data showed churn among users who had worked at least 1 shift, and frustrated users often relied on ops to assist with scheduling shifts, adjusting pay rate, and clock-in and out of shifts.
